WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republicans' campaign arm says it raised a record $15.5 million last month, but is not saying how much of that officials saved or spent.

The National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee on Tuesday released a summary of its September financial report that is not due until Oct. 20. The early release was meant to signal strength heading into the campaign's final month but didn't include a cash-on-hand figure.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee says its report is not yet ready for public release.

Including the September fundraising summary, the GOP Senate committee has now raised more than $97 million. Without the September figures, the Democrats' arm has raised almost $112 million.

Republicans are trying to pick up a net of six seats to claim the majority in the Senate.
