The Sertoma Club of Lafayette has announced plans for 2011 Sertoma Cajun Air Festival, to be held at the Lafayette Regional Airport October 29th and 30th.   This year’s air show will feature the world famous Thunderbirds, the U.S. Air Forces’ elite demonstration squadron.   In addition the Thunderbirds, the two-day event will feature a variety of aerial demonstrations and attractions.

“The Thunderbirds had such a wonderful experience in Acadiana in 2008, they expressed an interest in returning.  We are honored to again host the Thunderbirds and have the opportunity to present a premium air show experience to the people of Acadiana in 2011”, said Ron Chauffe, Air Show Chairman.
In December, several of the organizers attended the International Council of Air Shows in Las Vegas where they held discussions with potential performers and began negotiations to bring them Lafayette in October.  “The Thunderbirds are confirmed, and we’ll make announcements on other performers as those contracts are finalized.  Our goal is to build on the success and popularity of the 2008 show and bring in the industry’s top performances and attractions for 2011”, Chauffe added.
Sertoma Club members and volunteer organizers recently met to begin the extensive preparations required to produce an air show of the quality and magnitude of the Sertoma Cajun Air Festival.
