Severe Weather Hits the Arklatex
A tornado watch remains in effect for most of Northwest Louisiana until 3pm Saturday.
This watch also includes parts of far southern Arkansas and far northern Louisiana. This watch area included Shreveport.
The National Weather Service reported a tornado on Mira Myrtis Road west of Interstate 49 just after 11:30am. The tornado was headed east at 45 mph. This storm is impacting north Bossier Parish and moving into Webster Parish.
Thunderstorms stretch from eastern Texas to western Kentucky and southern Illinois as a potent area of low pressure swings from the Southwest to the Midwest.
A tornado watch is in effect until 5 p.m CST for parts of eastern Arkansas, northern Mississippi, western Tennessee and far southeastern Missouri. This watch area includes Memphis, Greenville, Mississippi, and Jonesboro, Arkansas.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 3 p.m. CST for portions of southern Arkansas, northwestern Louisiana and far northeastern Texas.
The Weather Channel reports at least four tornadoes have touched down since mid-morning in Arkansas and Louisiana.
The first tornado touched down near Keo, Arkansas around 10:30 am CT and traveled northeastward before likely dissipating south of I-40 west of Carlisle.
A pair of tornadoes then likely touched down between Hummoke and Carlisle before 11 am CT and traveled northeastward, doing damage in Slovak.
A tornado was reported near Hosston, Louisiana late Saturday morning and near Slovak, Arkansas. So far there have not been any reports of injuries.
