Shreveport Pair Found Guilty Of Sex Trafficking
During the conclusion of a three-day bench trial, two Shreveport residents were found guilty of sex trafficking of a minor.
U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley reported 37-year-old Tyrone Larry Smith and 33-year-old Lacoya Washington were found guilty by United States District Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr.
According to evidence presented at the trial, Smith began conversing with a 14-year-old girl from Texas over an internet dating site.
After convincing the teen to travel to Shreveport, Smith and Williams would bring the girl to hotels to engage in prostitution.
When the teen would resist, Smith would physically abuse her.
Both defendants face a minimum of 15 years in prison, at least five years of supervised release and a $250,000. They are also required to register as sex offenders.
The pair will be sentenced on Nov. 1.
