Crowley Man Pleads Guilty To Sex Crimes With A Minor
A Crowley man has pleaded guilty for using a cell phone to record sex acts with a minor, but how he was caught is the real story.
U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley said 35-year-old Blake Damian Rodgers was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on February 24, 2016 on theft charges.
While incarcerated, Rodgers had sexually explicit phone conversations with a 14-year-old minor.
Rodgers and the teen discussed previous sexual encounters--some of which Rodgers recorded on his cell phone.
Upon retrieval of the phone, investigators discovered several sexually explicit videos of the minor.
Rodgers faces 15 to 30 years in prison, five years to life of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
According to arrest records, Rodgers had been previously been arrested for aggravated battery and other warrants.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood , a U.S. Department of Justice initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual abuse and exploitation.
