UPDATE: All Clear Given After SLCC In Lafayette Was Evacuated
UPDATE: Officials with the Lafayette Police Department have now given the all-clear for the campus of SLCC.
Original story:
The South Louisiana Community College campus in Lafayette has been evacuated due to a bomb threat according to Lafayette Police Department spokeswoman Corporal Bridgette Dugas.
The Lafayette Police Department along with other responding agencies are on scene at the facilities that make up the school at 320 Devalcourt St.
According to police, a man called in around 9:30 this morning to threaten to "blow up the entire school".
After the call was made to 911, Lafayette Police Department officials along with other law enforcement began a sweep of all of the buildings on the campus.
According to an official with the school, all classes will be remote for the remainder of the day, and all employees of the Lafayette campus will also work remotely for the rest of the day.
Dugas says that no other homes or buildings around the campus are being evacuated at this time.
