NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Nonprofit groups preparing to help people in Louisiana sign up for insurance under the federal health care law say they have to battle misinformation.

Brian Burton, who coordinates the nonprofits, says some doctors have told patients they don't accept policies under the Affordable Care Act.

He provided a notice received by a southwest Louisiana resident from Children's ENT of Houston. Manager Nancy Turner says the practice received requests to join networks for ACA plans and rejected them because their reimbursement rates were lower than Medicaid.

But Burton says there's no difference between insurance policies sold through the ACA marketplaces and those sold elsewhere for the same coverage.

A spokeswoman for Louisiana's largest insurer agrees.
