St. Landry Parish Employee Fired After Alleged Drug Use
An employee of the St. Landry Parish Government has had their employment terminated after allegations of drug possession and use.
According to a press release from St. Landry Parish Government, an employee was allegedly seen using some marijuana while working.
Officials say the employee was then arrested on two charges:
- Possession of Marijuana
- Malfeasance in office
The information about the alleged activity was offered via an anonymous tip.
St. Landry Parish President Jesse Bellard started to look into the matter after the complaint was made. The employee was taken into custody by the Marshall's Office according to Bellard.
He says,
When you work for the Government, you are required to uphold the Government's standards. Following the rules in the workplace is one thing, but following the law is the most important.
