State budget cuts are being felt at University Medical Center to the tune of $4 million before the end of the fiscal year.  Hospital Administrator Larry Dorsey visited "Mornings With Ken & Bernie" today and discussed plans to slash the operating budget.

University Medical Center is one of eight health care facilities in the LSU system facing budget cuts.  Dorsey said more than 80 employees including 12 physicians at UMC will be terminated.  In addition a number of services will be reduced or eliminated.  Patients using those reduced or eliminated services will be funneled to other departments or even sent to other local hospitals.
