State Senate Passes Cigarette Pack Tax Bill
Despite the threat of a veto, the state Senate has passed a bill to renew a 4-cents-a-pack tax on cigarettes that is scheduled to expire in 2012. The bill passed with a two-thirds majority, just as it did in the House. If the Governor vetoes the bill, it's possible lawmakers will look into a veto override vote before the session ends June 23rd.
