I resumed my radio career in 1981, after a 4 year hiatus. James Ingram was getting a lot of recognition and airplay across multiple formats at the time. His 1982 collaboration with Quincy Jones "One Hundred Ways" won a Grammy for Best Male pop vocal performance. "Just Once" was also nominated. 1985's Duet w/ Michael McDonald, "Yah Mo Be There," won for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. One of my favorites was his duet "Baby, Come To ME," with Patti Austin. James passed away Tuesday, January 29th, at 66. Few details have been released. His immediately recognizable trademark voice will be missed.
