Gov-Elect John Bel Edwards appointed three members to the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education but his new appointees have not announced that they will indeed vote to oust Superintendent of Education John White.
State Superintendent of Education John White says the state is leaving tens of millions of dollars on the table every year because students aren't applying for financial aid.
Gubernatorial candidate John Bel Edwards has prefiled a bill for the upcoming legislative session which would prohibit the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education from approving charter school applications under certain circumstances.
The two groups will now appeal to BESE to open as a different kind of charter which gives BESE control over the charter's contract and opens enrollment to students statewide.
