Tropical Storm Arthur Strengthening, Should Reach Hurricane Status

Tropical Storm Arthur is approaching hurricane strength, with winds now at 60 miles per hour.

KATC-TV 3 meteorologist Dave Baker said the storm is in an area more favorable for development and that it should continue to strengthen as it moves north.

Arthur will hug the coast near North Carolina and will be along the New England coast just in time for Fourth of July festivities, Baker said.

The storm poses no threat to Acadiana.
