61-year-old Harold Pope and 38-year-old Jeremy Pope are dead after Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputies say the father and son had been arguing for days.

Spokesman Captain Kip Judice says they responded to reports of gunshots on Sunday at 12:03 a.m. on the 100 block of Nanoke Street near Carencro. He says Jeremy was found in the yard of the father's home with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. One of the two men was found dead on the scene while the other died on his way to Lafayette General Hospital.

Investigator are going to await ballistic tests as well as autopsy reports to verify the evidence collected at the scene but are not actively looking for any additional people in this case.
