Two Suspects Arrested Following January Shooting Death in Opelousas

24-year-old Marcus Chenier of Opelousas and 23-year-old Jevon Figaro of Lafayette has been arrested concerning the murder of Kelly Guidry of Opelousas.

In a press release, Opelousas PD spokesman says Kelly Guidry of Opelousas was shot multiple times near the intersection of N. Market St. and Cheney St. on January 23.

Authorities continue to investigate after Figaro and Chenier were each arrested after several months of investigation. Figaro turned himself in on Wednesday while Chenier was caught in Las Vegas, Nevada with the help of the U.S. Marshals.

Both men were booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail.

More arrests could happen.

Both men face the following charges:

1. Second degree murder,
2. Attempted second degree murder
3. Criminal damage to property.

Chenier also faces Felon in possession of a firearm.
