Today is a great day for Louisiana Softball as the season is a little bit more than a week away. Louisiana Athletics and head coach Gerry Glasco have reportedly agreed in principle to a contract extension for the third-year leader of the program according to AD Bryan Maggard on Monday.

This extension now secures Glasco until 2025 on his contract with the Ragin' Cajuns.

Maggard had this to say on the extension with their head softball coach who he hired prior to the 2018 season.

“Gerry Glasco has provided tremendous leadership for our softball program, both on and off the field. We are extremely excited that both he and Vickie will remain a part of the Ragin’ Cajuns family for years to come.”

Of course, Glasco was very appreciative of the extension, “I am so grateful for the tremendous amount of support and commitment that we receive from our administration, as well as being driven by the passion of the best fanbase in the country,” said Glasco. “I am beyond excited to see this Louisiana Softball season unfold, as we strive to continue the program's tradition of excellence into the future.”

Over his first two seasons guiding the Cajuns Softball program he's compiled a record of 93-22 and the team looks to build upon its first 50 win season since 2012. In addition, Louisiana Softball swept its Sun Belt Conference regular-season schedule and tournament championship in 2019, earned a Top 10 national ranking and gained entry to the program's 21st consecutive NCAA Tournament bid.

The season officially kicks off next Friday, Feb. 7, with a doubleheader at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park, with the Ragin’ Cajuns hosting Ball State (4 p.m.) and UTSA (6 p.m.).

Congratulations coach, well deserved and good luck this season to the entire program.
