UPDATE: Cross Lake Crashed Plane Found, Pilot Identified

UPDATE: Pilot killed in single engine plane crash has been identified as Freddie Phillips.

The fixed-wing plane took off from Shreveport Regional Airport at 2:36 p.m. Sunday and crashed into Cross Lake about ten minutes after takeoff. The plane is owned by Pocket Jet LLC on Marshall Street in Shreveport. Phillips was the manager of that company.

He was also CEO of Phillips Energy. He is survived by five children.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Late Sunday afternoon (5/23/21) a small single-engine plane was reported crashed in Cross Lake. Several Shreveport and Caddo agencies worked together on rescue efforts to locate the crashed plane and rescue any survivors.

The crashed plane was located by a local company's aircraft, and police and fire units rushed to the location. When they arrived, they found the wreckage, and the deceased pilot of the plane. The plane and pilot were removed from Cross Lake with the aid of a small crane, and the wreckage was removed via tow truck.
