Regulators say contaminated soil has been cleaned up at a former General Motors plant where headlights were built.

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality says 600 tons of soil were dug up and removed at the old GM plant in Monroe. DEQ says the site, which includes 425,000 square feet of manufacturing and distribution space, is now ready for reuse.

DEQ says it was concerned about five contaminated spots on the 182-acre site. The site is now owned by Guideco Properties LLC.
