Vermilion Parish will be just one of the sites of a sobriety checkpoint during the Fourth of July holiday period. Trooper Stephen Hammons with Louisiana State Police did not say where authorities will be conducting the DWI checkpoint in the parish, but Abbeville Police will be assisting them. Officers will be out looking for impaired drivers on Tuesday from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

Numerous DWI checkpoints will be conducted across the state between tomorrow and Sunday. roopers are warning partygoers not to wander on foot into or near roadways after consuming too much alcohol. State police say that 51% of pedestrians 16 and older killed in 2010 were legally drunk.
