Hurricane Forecast Predictions Increase
Five named storms into the 2011 hurricane season and federal forecasters bump their predictions upward. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration orginally called for 12 to 18 named
storms and 6 to 8 hurricanes. The new numbers released Thursday call for 14 to 19 named storms and 7 to 10 hurricanes with 3 to 5 becoming a major Category 3 or higher.
