Each year the Acadian Home Builder's Association works with KATC TV-3 and one of their member builders to build a beautiful home that is raffled off to raise money for local charities.

KPEL-FM came on board with this project several years ago, and in September of last year we held a radiothon encouraging people to learn more about the home.

Mark St. Marie, a builder with 35 years of experience in the industry, built this years's home.

Other sponsors of the project include Home Bank, Doug Ashy Building Materials, Ste. Marie Home Builders and Bayou Tortue Manor.

This evening several charities were honored with donatiosn from the tickets sales from last year's raffle. The charities are as follows:

St. Michael's Center for Veterans

Faith House

Lafayette Habitat for Humanity

Healing House

Each of the four charities were awarded $45,000 tonight.

Gwen Faulk and her family won the beautiful 2017 Home for the Holidays house at 100 Snapping Lane in Broussard.

Tonight at Joey's on Bertrand Drive, sponsors of Home for the Holidays, representatives of the benefiting charities and loyal community sponsors were on hand to watch as AHBA and KATC presented the beneficiaries with their checks.

Since the Home for the Holidays project first began in 2005, local charities have benefited by receiving $1.8 million in donations.
