ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KPEL) -- A St. Martinville man is facing charges of manslaughter stemming from a Wednesday night altercation.

According to Maj. Ginny Higgins with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office, police responded to a home on Eunice Drive after receiving a 911 call.

When deputies arrived, they found 56-year-old Sam Guidry lying in a pool of blood, Higgins said.

Guidry was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, Higgins said.

Guidry was apparently involved in some type of physical altercation with his step-son, 30-year-old Clyde Akers IV, Higgins said.

Akers was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center where he awaits a bond hearing.
