Suspicious Package at Johnston Street Convenience Store Rendered Safe

Update 11:53 a.m. - Trooper Stephen Hammons says the device has been rendered safe and Johnston Street is now open. The investigation has been turned over to Lafayette Police.

Suspicious Package In Judice Park Turns Out To Be Someone’s Garbage

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office says what was thought to be a suspicious package at Judice Park, turned out to be nothing more than someone's garbage. Captain Kip Judice tells KPEL a briefcase was seen near a fence at the park this morning prompting someone to call police.
