Teenager Wrecks Stolen Car Into Rayne House
Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly it happened Friday morning around 10:30 a.m. at a home on 315 West Harrop in Rayne.
Chief Stelly says the 16-year-old boy drove the 2005 silver Chevrolet Equinox through a fence and into the house, moving it from its foundation. Stelly says the teen fled the scene after the crash.
Stelly says the vehicle was stolen from a Rayne home earlier in the day. Officers eventually located the boy and arrested him. He’s charged with stealing the vehicle, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and several additional charges.
The boy, whose name has not been released, has been released to his parents.
