Vinton Man Sentenced To 34 Years for Sexual Abuse

KATC reported that Benoit was sentenced to 20 years for one count of aggravated incest and 7 years each for two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile. On Wednesday, the judge ordered Benoit to serve the three sentences consecutively.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's reported that Benoit was first arrested Jan. 17, 2014 when investigators found he had inappropriate contact with a juvenile beginning in 2009 when she was nine years old. Then, Benoit was arrested a week later when a second victim came forward accusing him of sexual abuse starting when she was six years old in 1988. Benoit was arrested again on Feb. 5, 2014 when yet another victim accused him of sexual abuse starting when she was eight years old in 1989. Investigators said the instances of abuse occurred multiple times-sometimes for years.
