According to local law enforcement a train has collided with an 18-wheeler near Cameron and Hollier Streets in Lafayette.

Lafayette Fire Department Public Information Officer Alton Trahan say that the two passengers of the 18-wheeler dump truck were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries.

One of the twenty-seven passengers of the Amtrak train was taken to a local hospital just to be observed.

Firefighters with the Duson Fire Department and members of the Lafayette Haz-Mat were able to safely deal with the diesel spill caused when the truck and train collided.

 

One locomotive was damaged.
