$2.1 Billion Expansion Coming To Louisiana Fertilizer Manufacturer

CF Industries is a fertilizer manufacturer out of Donaldsonville. They are a global leader in fertilizer manufacturing and distribution, the second-largest nitrogen fertilizer producer in the world and the third-largest phosphate fertilizer producer among public companies.

Governor Bobby Jindal and the Senior Vice President of CF Industries W. Anthony Will announced a plan for a $2.1 billion expansion of the Nitrogen Complex. This is one of the largest single capital investments in the history of Ascension Parish.

The expansion will create 93 new jobs with an average salary of $56,500 plus benefits. 349 jobs will continue on site plus 250 contracting jobs. 686 indirect jobs are are expected to be created, according to the Louisiana Economic Development Department. Governor Jindal says,

Today’s project is great news for the Capital Region and our entire state because it will help our families and agriculture industry thrive. CF Industries could have invested in another state, but they chose to expand here because of our strong business climate, abundant supply of natural gas, world class infrastructure and incomparable workforce.”

The site in Donaldsonville is the largest nitrogen complex in North America encompassing over 1400 acres. The date for the expansion to begin hasn't been set, but the most of the paperwork has been completed.
