The Louisiana Educational Assessment Program test is a standardized test that fourth and eighth grade Louisiana students take in order to determine if they are to take summer courses or be retained another year.

Testing for the current LEAP begins next week across the state and parents are reminded that their student don't need to do it alone. The Department of Education has taken precautions by setting up a tutoring hotline to help any student.

Rene Greer, Department of Education spokesperson, stated that the study process begins with study booklets that all students can get from their school. Once they get the booklet, if they want to check their work or if they are having a problem with a question, they can call the hotline and ask for assistance. Greer says the LDOE will have live tutors available on its on the hotline from 5:00 to 7:00 PM until March 19th.

The number for the hotline is 877-453-2721.
