Layoffs are coming to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.

It's just days before Christmas and all 69 workers in Health and Hospitals' Information Technology department will be losing their jobs in the early part of next year.  The work will now be done by UNO and U-L Lafayette.

The change was already being planned before Governor Jindal's new budget cuts and will save one million dollars.   The IT office at D-H-H will close February 10th, and all 69 position will be gone.  A department spokesperson says some of the laid off employees may get jobs at U-N-O which expects to hire 50 people.
