85% Of Lafayette Parish Schools Post Performance Improvements (AUDIO)
The Lafayette Parish School System has posted strong gains according to the Louisiana Department of Education performance scores released today.
District spokesperson Randy Bernard said the district posted a 7.1-point gain for 2016 from 89.2 to 2015 to 96.3.
The 96.3 score earns the district a "B" and a ranking of No.19 among Louisiana school districts this year up from 27th place in 2015.
The growth marks the largest gain in district performance since the DOE began assigning performance scores in 2001.
Bernard said 85% of schools in the district posted positive gains for the year.
This year the parish's high schools earned the following letter grades. (The corresponding school performance scores are also included):
- Lafayette High -- A 109.4
- Carencro High -- D 68.3
- Ovey Comeaux High -- B 95.1
- Early College Academy -- A 123.2
- Northside High -- D 64.3
- David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet -- 105.6
- Acadiana High -- B 86.5
