"Peanuts" has been popular since I was a small boy. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" still warms my surgically repaired heart. Would you believe network executives didn't like it?? Linus' touching monologue about the true meaning of Christmas was nearly cut.

CNN reports, CBS executives grudgingly agreed, at the original screening in 1965, to air it one time only. One of the animators (Who'd reportedly been imbibing) stood up in the back of the room, and yelled "It's going to run for a hundred years!" Then, he collapsed. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" passed the 50-year mark 4 years ago.

ABC airs the Christmas classic tomorrow (Dec. 5th) at 7 pm (CST). It can be viewed in the Lafayette area on KATC TV3.
