AG’s Office Says Brian Pope Cannot Keep Fees
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry says Lafayette City Marshall Brian Pope cannot pocket fees that his office collects from serving warrants and similar sources.
Fifteenth Judicial District Attorney Keith Stutes had requested the AG's opinion The opinion released today replaces a prior opinion on the subject.
The Daily Advertiser's Claire Taylor reported Pope was collecting 6 percent of the fees to supplement his salary.
The AG's office released the opinion today. The letter to Stutes cites La. R.S. 13:5807 which lists the fees the marshals' offices are entitled to collect.
