WKYT.com is reporting that a Chinese restaurant in Williamsburg was closed down last week after a woman complained that she thought the restaurant might be trying to serve roadkill.  What?

The station reports that a customer called the health department after she says she saw a dead deer on top of a box on a trash can being wheeled into the restaurant.

"Two of the workers came in wheeling a garbage can and they had a box sitting on top of it,” Kate Hopkins told the website. “And hanging out of the garbage can, they were trying to be real quick with it. So that nobody could see it. But there was like a tail, and a foot and leg. Sticking out of the garbage can and they wheeled it straight back into the kitchen.”  Wow!!!!

So a local health inspector says the owner's son admitted that he did get the animal off of the road on Interstate 75.  The investigator says the restaurant owners told him that they did not know that they weren't allowed to pick up road kill and serve it in the restaurant!  There will be another inspection, and if they pass, the owners can open up again, but would you eat there?  I wouldn't.

Look we all know there are urban legends about restaurants serving roadkill to customers, and I bet there are some that do, and we will never know.  I love to eat, so I am never going into the kitchen of any restaurant I love! But, I can tell you this much, when a lady sees them bring the roadkill into the kitchen....I am sure never going into that place again, would you?  No way!

I am all for people eating whichever animals they want, but don't serve me something that got hit by a car and has been out on the road for how long?  No way!  You want to cook that up like the Clampits and eat it, knock yourself out, but don't expect me to dig into that!

I am interested if you have a story like this one.  Do you have an urban legends to share?  Email me, without company names, at bernie@kpel965.com.   I would love to hear your stories! Bon Apetit!
