The Lafayette Police Department unveiled an armored Brinks truck loaded with high-tech camera surveillance equipment.

Police Chief Jim Craft says the "Armadillo" will be placed in front of drug houses and parked on streets where drug activity has plagued neighborhoods.

The surveillance truck has been helped drug problems in other communities across the country.

Chief Craft says a donated armored truck, a 10-thousand dollars donation from the Lafayette Economic Development Authority and 15-thousand dollars from forfeitures paid for the "Armadillo."
