According to the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s Office, an employee of the St. Martin Parish School Board is responsible for misappropriating at least $19,900. St. Martin Parish School Board Superintendent Lottie Beebe told news partner KATC, Jenny Fortier, the former secretary of Breaux Bridge Senior High has resigned and has repaid $8,800 of the current confirmed total.

Fortier has earned two years of supervised probation while in a pre-trial diversion program, in which she must participate in community service, and a theft prevention program. Also as conditions of the program, Fortier must avoid further arrests in order for the theft charges to be dropped.

Investigations are continuing while officials are trying to determine if Fortier may have embezzled even more money during her tenure with the St. Martin School Board.
