HARAHAN, La. (AP) — Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say a credit union employee has been arrested after she allegedly stole an $11,000 deposit.

On Sept. 18, deputies say a customer went to the ASI Federal Credit Union to deposit the money. However, he said, the money never made it into his account.

Deputies say a manager watched surveillance footage that allegedly showed 42-year-old Monique Gaines, of Kenner, taking the money from the customer. Instead of depositing it, she put the money in the back of her drawer. Deputies say she later took it out and put it in her purse.

Gaines was booked with theft of $1,500 or more.

It was unclear whether Gaines has an attorney.
