A 52-year-old Baker man pleaded guilty in a 1988 rape and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.

The Advocate reports Darrell Cage was arrested and indicted last year after DNA evidence collected in 1988 linked him to the crime last February.

State District Judge Bonnie Jackson sentenced Cage on Tuesday.

Cage, who was charged with aggravated rape, pleaded guilty to forcible rape.

Aggravated rape carries an automatic life sentence. Forcible rape carries a prison term of five to 40 years.
