Lake Charles Man Pleads Guilty To Failure To Register As Sex Offender

59 year old John L. Edwards of Lake Charles has pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex offender. According to evidence presented at the guilty plea the Dallas Police Department got a tip that Edwards was living in Lake Charles where he was arrested by local police. Edwards was originally sentenced to nine years in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender on a quarterly basis for life. He last registered in Texas in June of 2014. Edwards will be sentenced on August 11, 2016 and faces 10 years in prison, five years supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
