Baton Rouge Krispy Kreme Re-Opens After Nearly a Year — Lines Reach Two Miles
The Krispy Kreme location on Plank Road in Baton Rouge was open this morning for the first time in nearly a year after undergoing renovations.
And apparently, all of Baton Rouge was itching for a fix of these delightful pastries.
Nadeen Abusada, a reporter for WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge, was on the scene this morning and chronicled the customer frenzy starting in the middle of the night.
Yep, folks started showing up around 2:15 am when the donut shop wasn't opening until 6:00 am.
But the best may be later in the morning when she tweeted the following video. According to the man in the video, he believed the line was at least two miles long.
The last time Baton Rouge residents were able to enjoy hot, fresh Krispy Kreme donuts was June 2019. The store was torn down and now it looks unrecognizable from that building.
The new and improved store features a 24-hour drive-thru and curbside pickup. And apparently, really long lines until the newness wears off.
The dining room, however, is closed to the public due to the coronavirus.
By the way, in case you are wondering, this is only one of two stand-alone Krispy Kreme locations in the state of Louisiana. The other store is in Metairie.
