The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office is looking for a man after he allegedly fired shots at a deputy yesterday.

The spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office, Casey Rayborn Hicks, says they are looking for a man from who is originally from Lafayette. Deputies say he is suspected of shooting at the deputy outside a Walmart store there Monday afternoon.

Investigators are looking for Gabriel Nicole Francis for Attempted First Degree Murder of a Police Office among other charges.

So, what are the allegations?

Hicks says that Francis is accused of hurting a deputy and adds that he tried to get the weapon away from the same deputy.

Spokesman Hooks says that Francis is also alleged to have fired off the weapon of the deputy.

Other details of the allegations against Francis include that he went into the Walmart in Cortana and started flipping stage on items in the store, and then Hicks says that the man tried to walk right out the doors without paying for the items.

Francis' last known address is 6061 Plank Road in Baton Rouge, but the man is originally from Lafayette, and deputies believe that it's a good possibility that Francis could be here.

Francis is facing other charges including the following:

  • The Battery of a Police Officer
  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • Theft of Goods
  • Disarming a Police Officer
  • Resisting an Officer

The 32-year-old man is being sought by deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office on the above charges.

If you know anything about where Francis can be found, Hicks is asking people to call the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-389-5000.
