Bill Cassidy Ousts Incumbent Mary Landrieu From U.S. Senate Seat
What many expected to happen Saturday night, did.
Leading up to the runoff election for one of Louisiana's U.S. Senate seats, every respectable poll showed not only a Bill Cassidy win over incumbent Mary Landrieu, but a win by double digits.
Once the primaries passed, the national GOP poured money and attention to this race in the effort to 'finish the job' and knock off the 3-term Democrat incumbent Landrieu. Meanwhile, money to back Landrieu was pulled as she faced an onslaught of ads against her.
Landrieu has been a U.S. Senator since 1996. Cassidy has represented Louisiana's 6th Congressional since 2009.
