Brian Pope Reports to Jail; Transferred Out of Acadiana Area

On Wednesday, former Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope reported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center to serve his sentence on felony malfeasance in office charges. He was then transferred to the LaSalle Detention Center after processing.

According to a press release from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, Pope was transferred "for his own safety and well-being" mainly because of his time with the Lafayette City Marshal's Office, which makes arrests.
