Cajun Cannabis Owner Arrested Again
Three people, including Cajan Cannabis owner Travis DeYoung, were arrested last night after what Lafayette Police Sergeant Wayne Griffin called a lengthy investigation.
Griffin states, via press release that when they search the Cajun Cannabis store on Johnston Street, officers found three marijuana plants.
DeYoung was arrested on the following charges:
- Four counts of Principal to Distribute Schedule 1 Narcotics (Marijuana)
- Cultivation of Marijuana
- Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession with the Intent to Distribute A Schedule 1 Narcotic (Marijuana)
- Monies Derived from Drug Proceeds
- Violation of Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substance Law: Drug Free Zone
The investigation into the activities going on at Cajun Cannabis, 3802 Johnston Street, was conducted by member of the Tactical Narcotics Teams with the Lafayette Police Department.
Griffin says the marijuana was being grown inside of the business by using heat lamps. Officials say the street value of the 1336.5 grams of pot was around $26,730. They also found $156 worth of hash and drug paraphernalia. Griffin says Cajun Cannabis was also selling consumable items at the store that contain THC.
Armed with the things they found at DeYoung's business, they were also able to get a search warrant for his home where they found 11 grams of pot, some THC Wax along with other products containing THC.
The other two people who were arrested in connection with this case were 27-year-old Karlie Laine Lantier (Bellard) and 19-year-old Jordan Folks, both of Lafayette. Both of these people were arrested for four counts of Distribution of Schedule I Narcotics (Marijuana).
Griffin has also pointed out that this is an ongoing investigation, and they believe that more arrests are possible in connection with this case.
DeYoung was arrested back in 2019.
