Cajuns Can’t Overcome 2nd Half Scoring Woes
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns were going to be without the services of Mylik Wilson for the 2nd straight game and they were hoping that the game against Georgia Southern wouldn't turn out like the previous game did. The good news for the Cajuns was that the first half was a good one, the bad news was that 2nd half was not. The Cajuns went cold in the 2nd half and fell to the Eagles 71-51. The Cajuns fall to 7-11 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
The Cajuns were able to battle and use an early 7-0 run to take the lead in the first half. Both teams struggled to score later in the first half as the Cajuns were 1 of 10 and the Eagles were 2 of 10 at one point. The Cajuns led by as many as 9 but when the first half came to a close, their lead dwindled down to 4. Tirus Smith finished the first half with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.
The 2nd half was all Eagles as the Cajuns, like in the first half against Georgia State, went cold as they scored only 20 points in the 2nd half. The Cajuns scored 1 FG in the last 10+ minutes in the game while the Eagles went on a tear as they had a 27-5 run to break the game open including making 6 three pointers.
Smith who led the Cajuns in scoring and rebounds in the first half half fouled out in the 2nd half with the same scoring line as he couldn't get anything going. He wasn't the only one that went cold as the Cajuns as a team only made 6 FG the entire 2nd half.
The Cajuns will return home for a 3 game home-stand as they will face off against UTA, Texas State, and ULM. You can catch all of the action ESPN 1420/Hot 107.9.
