Cajuns Go Ice Cold In First Half, Fall To Georgia State
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns wanted to continue their winning ways as they traveled to Atlanta to face the Georgia State Panthers but this game was all Georgia State as the Cajuns never led in the game.. Mylik Wilson, one of the big reasons the Cajuns won against App State was out versus the Panthers and it showed especially in the first half when the Cajuns went ice cold. Georgia State defeats Louisiana 90-52 as the Cajuns fall to 7-10 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
The Cajuns couldn't seem to get in any kind of rhythm in the first half. At the 10:36 mark in the first half the Cajuns were shooting 1 of 17 for 5.9% from the field. They didn't score their 2nd basket of the night until the 9:30 mark which made it 25-5 in the Panthers favor. The Cajuns had 10 offensive rebounds in the first 12 plus minutes but couldn't get any second chance points. The Panthers shot 60% in the first half while the Cajuns shot only 16%.
The Cajuns shot a little better in the 2nd half and played hard but the Panthers lead was just too much to overcome. The Cajuns shot 28.9 % for the game and turned the ball over 22 times and the Panthers were able to get 28 points off of turnovers. It didn't help that the Cajuns only had one player score in double figures. The Panthers held the advantage in pretty much every category except for rebounds and the Cajuns had 32 rebounds vs. the Panthers 31.
The Cajuns will look to finish off the road trip against Georgia Southern on Saturday before coming home for 3 games. The Cajuns will play UTA, Texas State, and ULM in the 3 game homestand.
