In this edition of "Not Necessarily The News," Tootie visits some "friends" here in Lafayette.

"Hey! I’m Tootie Landry and this is what I found out today! Since I was off of work this past Monday, I decided to stop by a place of business here in town and visit some of my friends. It’s a fairly large establishment with 13 staff members and more than 300 there at all times. It’s very obvious the passion these folks have. After all, they’ve been in business for 30 years.

Upon entering the campus, I couldn’t help but notice how refreshing it felt; from the cleanliness to the friendly professional staff. I had a lot of friends to see, so I didn’t want to waste time. I dropped by Leo’s area first to check in on him. He’s so predictable… Leo had just finished lunch and looked like he was ready for a nap, so I moved on. The staff said Marlene was sick and had reported to the medical unit, so I went looking for Jake and Tiffany. They’re both so friendly and sweet! It’s nice to be around them when I need a smile. Next, I searched for Sylvia. I love being around her because she reminds me the importance of exercise. We’re both trying to lose 10 pounds!

This place is so special! The staff knows all 300 here by name! There is even a cemetery with colorful headstones for those who died, a Jenny Craig room for the overweight and a Kitty Cat Cottage!

Where was I on Monday? With Heidi Paterson at Lafayette Animal Aid! You see… Leo, Marlene, and Sylvia are cats and Jake and Tiffany are Chihuahuas! And finally, as I drove off and waved bye to Bruno and Theo, I thought I’ve found a little place of heaven!  And I’m Tootie Landry and this is “Not Necessarily the News!”
