Charges have been dropped against three former security officers at the Terrebonne Juvenile Detention Center who had been accused of sexual misconduct with female inmates.Charges were dropped Tuesday against 37-year-old Chadwick Griffin, 28-year-old John Gathen and 39-year-old Darrin Carter. After a jury trial, 50-year-old Floyd Howard and 25-year-old Darwin Brown were acquitted last week

Prosecutors say the state had problems with witnesses.

Another former guard — 48-year-old Angelo Vickers — was sentenced to seven years after pleading guilty to molestation. A five-year suspended sentence was handed to 26-year-old Christopher Turner for a guilty plea to malfeasance.

The guards were charged with offering snacks and phone-call privileges in exchange for sex.
