The NCAA made an announcement earlier today that Auburn quarterback Cam Newton is eligible to play this weekend in the SEC Championship game and possibly in the BCS National championship game if Auburn wins the SEC title. College Football analyst Tim Brando of Shreveport says this isn't shocking. Newton was declared ineligible on Monday after the NCAA discovered amateurism rules violations had occurred when his father, Cecil Newton, solicited extra benefits during the recruiting process. Brando says that the NCAA statement shows its satisfied with Auburn's cooperation on this matter. Brando believes the investigation into the allegations against Cecil Newton and the involvement of the owner of a scouting service who allegedly worked with Mississippi State to market Newton as part of a pay-for-play scenario, is ongoing. Brando says he's learned that Auburn has limited athletic access to Cecil Newton.
