Congressman Charles Boustany has demanded that President Obama enforce laws regarding illegal aliens and children in particular. Two months ago Boustany wrote a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Mathews Burwell requesting that no Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) be allowed into Louisiana with direct approval from Governor Bobby Jindal.

Since that letter Congressman Boustany has learned that 1,275 UAC's have been released between January 1, 2014 and July 31, 2014.

In a statement released today Boustany said,

Today, we have a humanitarian crisis at the border because the President has refused to act. Now UAC are being released into our state without our direct approval. The House has acted to send additional border security assistance to the border and to expedite processing and deportation to alleviate this problem. The President and Harry Reid have yet to act. The people of Louisiana want the President to enforce the law and we will continue to demand that he do so.
