Could Elfrid Payton Get Traded?

Is a former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun basketball star on the trade block as the NBA trade deadline nears?

Marc Berman of the New York Post says former Louisiana standout Elfrid Payton, currently a member of the Orlando Magic, may be on his way to the New York Knicks, with the trade deadline set for 2 pm (cdt) today.

A two-time first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection, Payton averaged 14.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists over his three-year college career at UL from the 2011-2014 season-the 2013-2014 campaign.

A native of Gretna, Louisiana, Payton was selected by the Magic with the 10th-overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft.

A guard, the 23-year old Payton is averaging 13.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists-per-game this season, his fourth in the league.
